http://impressions-writingnotes.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html - this is the archive I cant work out how to link to the exact post (retarded moment I suppose) anyway, read June 17th, and then read this response.
What a wonderful idea, I completely see where it is you are coming from, I'm terrible, I've not ever sent out "thank you" notes, which makes me feel kinda terrible, but that's probably to do with my age more than anything.
It's just not part of our electronic society, we feel that a text or a message on a social networking site will do, but really nothing compares to a hand written note or letter.
When was the last time you received a hand written letter? I know it's been quite some time since I did, because we rely to heavily on the e-mail, but even that sometimes seems to be full of e-mails from mailing lists you've been put on, or from social networking sites, I cant remember the last e-mail I received with real words from a real person, that hasn't been sent to like 3 billion people also.
Anyway, I completely agree with this post, and I think we should all make a concerted effort to get out those post-it notes and totally send out the love or appreciation to those people who we almost take for granted in our lives!

yea you have a point. all i ever get are thank you notes, and those are from my coach thanking me for doing something for her.
once she wrote me a "Good luck" letter when we went to competition, and it made me feel so much better. I was having the jitters all day i was so nervous.
There truly is nothing better than a hand-written note from someone. it shows that you are important to that person and that you are worth writing something like that.
People should do that more often.
Chiming in on the sending of handwritten whatnot. I rarely get letters in the mail anymore and yet I write them to my friends! I just figure, how much fun must it be to be pulling your mail from the post: bill, crap, crap, bill, bill, crap, crap, crap, LETTER! Guess which one you open first? Wheeee!
Nice post. Will be checking in!

It wasn't all that long ago that you received a hand-written letter hon :-p
But yeah, I agree with what you're saying *gets out a post-it pad and pen and works out how many he can leave around the flat for you*
Thanks for the comments guys, I hope I have inspired you all a little too get out that pen and paper, and write in the real world!
Definitely agree. I hate all the false sentiment flying around everywhere. Like forwards on facebook funwalls "best friends forever", and text chains and cards in card shops with pre-written cheesey messages. Always go with the most blank card and write your own message! I love home-made cards. Even better :)

Exactly Vicky, I think it's time we all brought some stamps and sent out some letters! lol
I never handwrite letters anymore. If I do send snail mail, I type it.
The last handwritten letter I received was from my six-year old cousin thanking me for coming to his party. It included a drawing of me that I really hope is not representational of what I really look like.
